Wire Transfers for Payment: Don't let the buyer scam you

Never...ever, did I say NEVER, take a check deposit into your checking account for payment from a total stranger. This is a "recipe for failure" as we say in the business. If you know the guy, that is one thing, but from a stranger, never take a check deposit, only a direct wire deposit fo...

Fake GMT Bezel Inserts

One question that I see asked quite often is . . . how can I tell if a GMT bezel insert is genuine or fake. The most common aftermarket (or fake if you prefer) GMT bezel insert is known for the "hooked 2s" that are found on these inserts. If you take some time and examine the 2s on the fak...

GMT 1675, circa 1966-1967, Mark 0

Here is a dial which has become known as the Mark 0 dial, which is a white-lettered fonts dial, found on the GMT 1675. It is believed to be the earliest variation of the GMT white-lettered dials with the dial coronet appearing to be very similar to the last variation of the gilt GMT dials. Watches w...

Re: Looking for a Rolex and Tudor Serial Numbers Database

Most of the data bases that you find are estimates for the year of production. Bob's Watches chart is probably as accurate as any of them. Personally, I prefer to date a watch by the case back number which is located on the inside of the case back. 1972 was the last year for case back stampings so i...
